Soccer Season

Soccer season has started up, and with two kids playing now, its taking up pretty much all of Saturday. Yeah, sure, I can think of things I'd rather be doing, but the kids get in some seriously intense exercise which makes it all worth it.
My oldest was upset because her team just got crushed. They're not supposed to keep score, but of course the kids do. She was frustrated because, in her words, not everyone was focused on the game and scoring a goal.
I tried to hide my smile, I could hardly believe that this was coming out of her mouth. At her level, the teams are made up of a mix of kids, some who have been playing for years, and some who are just trying it out. I tried to remind her of that. Some kids aren't focused on scoring goals, they're focused on just trying to learn how the game works, and this is just the first game of the season.
She looked disgruntled. Personally, I just wanted to see a great pass. One great pass. Forget the goals, just a glimmer of some beautiful teamwork was what I was really hoping to see.
