RI House, Finished

All this started just prior to Labor Day 2003. Main carpentry work finished 11 Oct 2004 Occupancy permit received 25 Oct 2004. I camped out on 30 July on the 2nd floor while work was still in progress. Still some painting to be done primarily on the deck as well as landscaping. Our builder/contractor Jim Roderick, his son Jim and carpenter Steve Arnold were great to around. If you ever read Tracy Kidder's book HOUSE ( I think that is the title) you can get an appreciation for the effort involved. Jim's subs were great as well. Bottom line I am glad I went through this, but I would not do it again. Beautiful house. Thanks to all who made it possible.
1) West Side view. Gives you the porch,deck,stone stairway on the right and lattice work used to cover a storage area under the porch.
2) East side showing the deck and walkway leading to the front door. Looking directly at the kitchen area. Four ways to enter house: main entrance, French door off deck into kitchen, French door off deck into living room/dining room or porch off deck.
3) Main entryway with kitchen on the left,laundry area, shower enclosure and tip of master bath.
4) Top area is guest bedroom, shower stall and master bath.
5) Left is master bath, rounded windows are the master bedroom, top is 3rd bedroom.
6) Master bedroom, screened porch.

10) Kitchen area with island of butcher block to the right. Counter is stainless steel.

13) Looking from kitchen through dining room to the living room showing bamboo floors which are throughout the house...cheaper and stronger than oak.
